ABOUT PMA

The history of PMA is interwoven with the history of the Magdalinos family.

Paris Magdalinos arrived in New Zealand as a young refugee and left school when he was 14, but through his own drive and talent he became one of New Zealand’s leading architects.

Colourful and flamboyant in both his personality and his architecture, Paris established and ran the Napier-based practice successfully since 1971 undertaking significant projects all over New Zealand and abroad.

PMA was established in its present format in 1989, after restructuring a larger multi-disciplined design office. Since then, PMA has retained its base in Napier, while continuing to expand its activities throughout New Zealand.
